They won't all be winners

Day 11-January 11th: Lately I have had to wait in a line of cars with middle schoolers and their parents, since they don't want their kids walking to school in this weather. I took this out of the window of my car, since I didn't have much else to do at the time. This picture is a pretty good representation of my students neighborhood. That puppy looks cold!

Day 12-January 12th: Another out the window photo! Those are some impressive icicles! They need to take out their air conditioner just like we do!
Day 13-January 13th: This photo is of part of the bulletin board behind my desk. It's a thank you card that Dr. Timberlake sent me for being part of a panel of Baker grads. I got this just a couple of weeks before attending her funeral. Dr. Timberlake was an education professor of mine who also supervised my student teaching.
Day 14-January 14th: It's shake and bake, and Tyler helped! He looks a little goofy trying to keep the rest of his body still while shaking some tasty butterfly pork chops in some hot and spicy shake and bake goodness.
Day 15-January 15th: The inside of my messy purse. Nuff said.
Day 16-January 16th: Happy Birthday Heather! Heather dawning her new necklace I made her at O'Shay's after a delicious dinner at Nick and Jakes.
Day 17-January17th: I was impressed by how many carts were actually ready to take at Wal-Mart during our usual Sunday outing.

The Weekend

Day 8-January 8th: Courtney's cupcake tower! We went over to Courtney, D.P., Stephanie, and Owen's (whew, thats a lot of people!) that night for a game night and Courtney made these fab devils food with cream cheese frosting cupcakes!

Day 9-January 9th: Did lots of things today; had some Indian food, saw a movie... forgot to take a picture, so Fiona looking up at Tyler from her bed it is.

Day 10-January 10th: Tyler is going to make me take our Christmas tree down this week, so I wanted to make sure I took a picture of it. It was my first tree as an adult! It is a hand-me-down from Grandma. Thanks Grandma!

Back to work tomorrow after an unexpected 5 day weekend! I think I'm ready though. I haven't worked much lately with winter break and all.

Snow Days!

Day 5-January 5th: Snapped a photo out my windshield on my way to work right after merging onto 670. Lets hope this photo challenge doesn't kill me! Driving through the middle of downtown with a camera in my hand is dangerous! If you aren't from Kansas City and you're wondering what those things are on top of the pillars up above, they are supposed to be statues. Of what? I have no idea. They are on top of Bartle Hall where they have conventions and shows (like lawn & garden, boats, cars, etc.) and what not. I think they look like houses from The Jetsons.
Day 6-January 6th: Snow Day #1! I figured a snow day warranted a photo of the falling snow! This is a little bridge in a park down the street from our house. I take our dog, Fiona, on walks here in the summertime.
Day 7- January 7th: Snow day #2! Fiona is so cute out playing in the snow! It was so hard to get this picture because she kept coming to the door every time she saw me. See the snow on her nose? She always gets snow on her nose. I don't know if she eats it on is just looking for stuff.

The Return

Day 4-January 4th: Back to school! It felt appropriate to snap a pic of my school since I had to return to work today after a luxuriously long winter break. Here is a view from the parking lot on my way to the car. I reeeeally didn't wan't to go back today, but seeing all of their little faces made things much better! (Notice the unsuspecting 4th grade teacher trying to exit the building? Try again! That door was NOT shoveled!)

Concluding the break

FINALLY I will upload some photos from the challenge! Here are Days 1, 2, and 3 which are also the last few days of my glorious winter break. (Oh the perks of being a teacher!)

Day 1-January 1st: Happy New Year! Here is some leftover New Year's paraphernalia on our fireplace. Being the gracious host that I am, I felt it was necessary to purchase a box-o-New Year's-crap at Party America. I also bought a giant New Year's Balloon that is still tied to the front porch. Overall, another excellent party at the McGuire/Staebell house hold.

Day 2-January 2nd: My fabulous hair stylist, Katherine decided that I needed to brighten up my color with a dark chocolaty all over color in addition to my highlights. It looks pretty snazzy. I've referred like 4 people to Katherine! It's so funny when a bunch of my friends and family have just come in recently because then she has all kinds of things to ask me about. I never really have anything new to share with her, she already knows!

Day 3-January 3rd: Tyler had to work all day today; a SUNDAY! Darn year end stuff when you're an accountant. I thought it would be good to make him a nice meal. I whipped up some of Rachel Ray's "Big Beef and Garlic Italian Stir Fry." DE-LICIOUS! You can make some too if you have her book, Book of 10. It's very strangely organized but has TONS of tasty sounding recipes. You'll find throughout the year that I LOVE to cook and bake, especially for other people! I don't cook much if it's just for me. Often I will just have a bowl of cereal or cheese and crackers for a meal (as I did for lunch today).

Well, Back to work tomorrow! =( I hope the kiddos didn't forget too much over break!

Happy New Year!

So, I tried to set up this blog yesterday, but for whatever reason, I can't for the life of me figure out what email address I used to create it, so I can find it, but I can't log into it =(

I took my first photo yesterday, and will probably post photos every few days. It's too bad I hadn't seen the idea to do this challenge yesterday morning because our house was a GIANT mess from our awesome new years party the night before.
